Shhhh it can hear you

by Dark Savior   Jan 6, 2005

Watch the darkness here it comes, creeping along side you
felt through your body and your soul, taking you away bell done toll
the words you whisper it can hear, the thoughts you don't utter..
it watches your moves and doesn't say a word, heart as black as coal.

it's been with you since birth, always there..nor here, nor where?
everyone has one it can call you in an instant, seeing is believing
you help it grow and it grows along with you, inside you each night.
you think it is your friend but it's mischievously deceiving

did you just hear it, there it goes now, it's helping your read this here
watching you from it's safe haven and knowing it has control
do you think you control it? do you know what it is? if you do tell me?
if you find out what it is then i know the bell is surely to toll

careful what you whisper it knows your secrets and your desires
everything you own it belongs to it too; you can't win: why do you try?
speak a word about what it is and desolation will come for you
it seen you every time that you started to cry

....did you figure out what it is? can you tell me ..shh be not
for if you tell me then i know, it knows, you'll surely be caught
just keep it to yourself don't ever speak a word about this or think
just let it creep back to it's home where it belongs, let it slink....

if you know what it is then it's best if you shouldn't tell
just let it crawl back up into it protective shell
keep up your guard for it is waiting for you to let it down
the darkness has me now.i told too much careful of what you touch......

*i am curious if you know what it is, let me know if you know what it i, thank you for reading this poem. *

Wonderful poem. Beautiful in a way, very dark and great use of words. I think I know what it is but I'll keep that to myself. Good work.

First, let me say that this is just a spectacular use of symbolism and darkly and beautifully put.

As for what I think it is about, perhaps my opinion is different, but to me it came as the evil that is a part of each of us, for no one is born completly innocent. This to me was the true desires within us that though we know are wrong still exist, and if we feed these desires they shall eentually grow to take over our complete form.

Anyway, I absolutly loved your symbolism. First of all, the main subject was wisely put and the mournful beast you portrayed fit perfectly with the meaning behind it. I also loved the symbol of the "bell toll" repeated and to "be careful what you whisper"
intriguing and darkly beautiful. Excellent job
