Behind It All

by Heather M Craig   Feb 17, 2005

The one with all the problems
built with secretive pain
broken down with scattered self
but her smile still remains.

Behind her every smile
lies a faded crimson scar.
Behind ever second of happiness,
the tears are not to far.

Behind every suicide attempt
saved double the lives of others.
Behind the family lines
lies an abusive father and mother.

Behind the pretty eyes
is a soul longing to be set free.
Behind the beautiful heart
is the striving to just be me.
