Whats the Matter With Kids Today?

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Apr 14, 2005

Totally didn't know what category this fit into but in my mind whether it makes sense to you or not, this is what i have done in the past mainly and shit so its pretty much depression, might not make sense to you....

I walk down the hallways at school,
seeing all the kids trying to fit in and be cool.
whatever happened to being unique?
why is it that popularity is what they seek?
twelve year olds getting into drinking and smoking,
stealing from convenient stores and gambling all their money on a simple game of poker.
what's the matter with kids today?

They let people push them around and tell them what to do,
but what happens when they meet the real you?
Going out to parties, losing their innocence at such a young age,
carving in their flesh to let out their rage.
Swearing and cursing at their elders, do what they want and not what they are told,
acting as if they were old.
What's the matter with kids today?

They all live their own lives the way they want,
not taking a second to think what is the best for them.
girls wearing mini-skirts and belly shirts...their bodies they flaunt,
getting down to the last of the seeds and the stem.
Guys buying condoms at the age of thirteen,
thinking that they will be needing to use them sometime soon.
getting into doing crystal meth and ecstasy,
falling to their doom.

I walk home from school at three thirty and see little kids fighting,
yelling and wrestling in the grass, pinching, hitting, and biting.
They act like they mean the words that they say to be accepted by the cooler kids,
but deep down the loners are their real friends no matter how many hits.
They cry inside knowing what they are doing to them but why do it in the first place?
they never notice the crimson tears running down their face.
whats the matter with kids today?

They all live their lives the way they want,
not taking a second to think what is the best for them.
girls picking fights with each other for no reason, having the memory of it left to haunt,
having no one there but themselves to defend.
Guys kicking friendship around like it is a football but yet it never breaks,
throw, kick, run do whatever you please.
You are never what you say you are, nothing but a fake,
breaking girls fragile hearts with such ease.

I take a walk around town and see little kids hugging and kissing,
that is all that they care about these days, they have no idea how much they are missing.
What is the rush to grow up so fast?
Choosing guys over their friends...which one do you think will last?
So cautious about what they do like nothing is ever good enough,
is this seriously how we are supposed to think as we grow up?
whats the matter with kids today?

As i walk and think these things to myself each and everyday,
i start to realize that these kids will never change no matter what you say.
I was just like them and in some ways i still am, hell i aint no shining star,
teasing someone else for what they are will not change who you are.
Skinny, fat, deaf, blind, it don't make a difference what you look like,
on this ordinary chain of life, you will always be a spike.
what's the matter with the world today?
