You Don't Know Me

I'm the person you walk by,
Each and every day,
You stare at me with uncertainty,
Yet you have nothing to say

I'm the person who stays in the shadows,
In the dark corners surrounded by hate,
Light never enters this place,
Do you believe this to be my fate?

I'm the person who nobody notices,
The person they couldn't care less about,
They laugh and scold at my desperation,
And push me back into the dark when I try to get out

I'm the person you think is pathetic,
A person who has no hope,
You think that I'm making a big deal out of nothing,
Or could it be that I don't know how to cope?

I'm the person who is depressed,
And sits in this desolate place all alone,
The person who has no one to turn to,
My issues are all unknown

Although I may be all these things,
I have feelings just like you,
I feel love and hate and envy,
I have emotions too

I'm a person too you see,
I'm just like everyone else including you,
But my emotions and feelings seem to close off,
Because I can't be myself in front of you

I'm hurting so deeply,
I'm bleeding and screaming inside,
These wounds will never close completely,
These scars I cannot hide

All I want is for you to notice,
That I have feelings and pain,
Obviously you don't see this,
For you look at me with disdain

On the outside I look rough,
But that's not really me,
If you took the time and had an open mind,
You'd see that things are different than they appear to be

I throw out my hand for everyone to see,
But everyone just stands there to watch me drown,
Isn't it ironic to see how easy it is,
To kick a person when they are already down?

Dont tell me that I didn't try,
I tried to find someone to care,
But you just mocked me as you heard my plea,
Your sympathy you did not share

Take this as you will,
And with it said take heed,
Everyone needs someone to depend on,
Especially those in need

I'm the person who you walk by everyday,
I watch you watching me,
You look at me and laugh,
This pathetic person is all you see

You are dragging me down,
Lower and deeper into the dark where I am alone,
But it seems as if you could care less,
Because you just ignore me when I cry and groan

I'm the person you walk by everyday,
And you ignore my desperate plea,
You judge me as you pass by with a look of disgust
But you don't even know me
