Mid Autumn Festival (Chinese Tradition)

by Steven Beesley   Jul 23, 2005

Intro.: The Chinese mid autumn festival occurs on the 15th of August on the Chinese lunar calendar each year. Thanks are given for having a good harvest. Kids play with colorful lanterns, moon cakes are eaten under a full moon and of course the poets come out and play.

Mid Autumn Festival:

Under a full moon with not a cloud in the sky.
A gentle breeze making the trees sway.
Shadows shimmer on the lake so calm.

The children all so happy and gay.
Playing with colorful lanterns so merry and so sweet.
Moon cakes adorn the table for a feast.

The poets , they come out and play.
With Chinese poetry filling the air.
There is not a soul with any care.
The pretty girls will sweep you off your feet.
