The Wall

by Melissa S. Masucci   Jan 22, 2006

I awaken,
as if from a dream...
a dream in which
I built a wall.

I would peer beyond it
and others would peer in.
But the wall never budged.
I was always on the inside,
alone.

I've finally found a way
to let go my hold on the wall.
Today I walked away.

It has crashed,
my eyes now open.
And I awaken,
as if from a dream.
