Iron Heart

by Krathia   Feb 23, 2006

My iron heart protects me from harm,
Violent words its gleam can disarm.
Hardened and cold, forged in despair,
In my eyes, compassion is rare.

Alone, rejected and frozen within,
The world outside has committed a sin.
Silence is their sword and hatred, their spear.
No one ever helping, no one ever there

Helpless, unwanted, in an ocean of fear,
Drifting away to a kingdom now near
Desperately clutching my ever freezing heart,
Now standing alone in a world torn apart.

In the waters, I saw a heart made of glass,
Broken and shattered, haunted by the past
It was just a reflection caused by the sun
When all has been said and nothing has been done.

Glass can crack and it may reveal gaps.
Iron can rust and it may collapse.
Forever floating on rejected waters,
Will I hold on when my iron heart falters?
