Finale for Perfection

by Once an Angel   May 17, 2006

She plays upon her shattered piano,
her fingers addicted to the red keys.
Hours and hours the sonata sings,
grief stricken and lonely she sits and bleeds.
A life dedicated to flawlessness,
a silent struggle that no one can see.
Practicing for her final performance,
to spotlight her successful victory.

The applause and laughter all died away,
the audience filed out, one by one.
The lights flickered out, the show was done.
Yet she remains inside the concert hall;
she'll stay as a permanent reflection,
of the priceless cost paid for perfection.

I didn't like the "to spotlight her successful victory." line. I might have missed the point, but "successful" seems somehow redundant.

Still, it's nicely written and conjurs up grand images; albeit ones of darkness!

"The applause and laugher all died away" I think you mean 'laughter'.

This was yet another great piece. It was a tad short. But you filled it with so much true emotions. And it was very strong. Once again, Well done. You're a fantastic writer =) 5/5

Whoa! That's actually REALLY creative and really touching...eerie but in a way that everyone can't help but love. The vocabulary was beautiful, not too strong but perfectly expressed.

And not to mention the whole thing basically kicked @$$!! lmao
