Too Late to Turn Back

by Bridgette   May 31, 2006

I know I shouldn't be doing this
But there's no one here to stop me
Cold; shaking with fear
But still carrying on
With no intentions of turning back

My heart is beating faster
As if it were trying to escape
The soon to be heart break

My eyes start to water
As I stall in silence
But I must get an answer
To those questions
That have been clouding my thoughts.

And then, the truth is revealed
And in my loneliness, all is silent
Except for the sound of a broken heart
Still trying to beat.

This poem is very powerful and well written, but I'd suggest not using 'thoughts' at the end of 2 lines in the same stanza :) Nice poem though x
