The misplaced happiness in my heart
Is also a mixture of fear, longing, and pain
The happy tone in my voice is nothing but
A mere knowledge of knowing what not to say

Raised so high up, only to be knocked down
The steady beat of my heart as I still try to fly
These wings of love have yet to please me
But none the less, I still whole heartedly try

My mind is absent of all thoughts
Purposely, of course, to spare my heart

But now I live in fear, blocking my thoughts
Of whatever else you will decide to say

I feel the darkness surrounding me
Something I have come to like
Hiding in the shadows to ease my pain
And become invincible to those around

And somehow you have found me
Dying to be with you, yet so afraid
The light you brought was blinding
But you never saw a sign of fear in my eye

I am strong, no doubt, but am I strong enough
You force me to face all of my biggest fears
