Inspired By A True Event

by Feline Fatigue   Aug 15, 2006

A Woman sits within her parked car,
Staring at a picture of her son in the ER.
Tears gently begin to slide down her face,
She tries to relax, knowing the court is on the case.

Her husband, Ben, comes to the car window.
"The trial is starting, we have to go in, you know."
She nods and wipes away the tears,
Then walks to the court, realizing her fears.

In the court room, the family is waiting.
Once she sits, she can't stop staring.
The two men sitting in the defendents chair,
They don't seem to give much of a care.

Grandma is on the stand, giving her say.
She holds up a picture from the other day.
"Look at what they did to him,
Look at where they put him."

The picture is of her grandson at his funeral,
Then suddenly, Ben attacks the devils.
The rest of the family follow his lead,
Hitting and beating the men who did this foul deed.

The cops in the room break up the fight,
But, my, the fight was an incredible sight.
Ben is cuffed and taken out of the court.
"This is far from over!" he yells in hot retort.

Aunt Rachel starts to cry,
Why did her nephew have to die?
Why did those men have to drive down their street,
Shooting wildly, and a boys life they reaped.
