Dreams

by *Charisma*   Sep 5, 2006

With just one thoughtless word
You tore apart my dreams
Not just fraying their edges
But ripping at the seams

All the pixie dust fell out
And quickly I did fall
No longer did I feel good
I shriveled up so small

Why did you shatter my hopes
My reasons to love and live
I'd found myself feeling better
And so willing to forgive

You thought that you were helping
By sharing reality
But little did you know
You were only breaking me

I know the world is cruel
It's unjust and it's unfair
I know that 99% of people
Don't really even care

My dreams do not overtake me
I'm not blind to what is here
But in these dreams of mine
I can battle my worst fears

And so I can take tomorrow
Better than I did today
But now my strength for fighting
I've watched you take away

But now I am asking you
To please return my things
I am conscious of this world
But I prefer my dreams
