Making Up for My Regrets

by *Charisma*   Sep 6, 2006

I look upon your face
And feel so much regret
Words I should have said
I owe you such a debt

I should have shown you love
At least more than I did
I should have shared more hugs
You are just a kid

I should have said I love you
More than just at night
I should have read you stories
That brought you such delight

I should have turned the T.V. off
And played games instead
I should not have yelled so loudly
The hurtful things I said

I should have been more patient
Given a second chance
I should have turned up the music
And said, "C'mon let's dance."

I should have understood you
And listened when you talked
I should have payed attention
When you staggered in your walk

I should have considered you
Before I thought of me
I should have just said yes
To those little pleas

All those things are in the past
But you are still at my side
I see you clearer than before
I'll give you what I once denied
