Hold Fast To What You've Got

by *Charisma*   Sep 11, 2006

Memories you thought would last forever
Knick Knacks you thought you'd always keep
Are piling up in some old chest
And becoming a forgotten heap

You hold them up to a remember
Reflect upon those treasured days
The joy they once had is fleeting
And quickly passes away

Like the wind, time goes by
And takes with it all our years
People and places we once loved
In the cracks of life disappear

Sometimes we don't see it happen
We wonder where it is they went
Seeking a way to find them
We realize our chance was spent

So hold them tight for that moment
And love them while you still can
So you don't have to shed a tear
As they slip through your hand

Beautiful. Sometimes, memories are all we hold, but they can last a lifetime. Well done. xx
