And Daddy Cried...

by *Charisma*   Sep 11, 2006

She allowed her heart to walk astray
And be coaxed by whispers he told
The more she listened the more she thought
Her life with her husband was old

A new adventure she wanted with him
And he offered her quite a ride
So she climbed into the front seat of his car
And the rules of life no longer applied

Who cared about the children she hurt
Or the husband who knew nothing at all
What harm could it do if covered with lies
She was flying so how could she fall

But soon her heart was entertwined
And she hid the truth no more
Now the problems she had caused
Were flying out the front door

She said she loved him and he loved her
It was something she couldn't give up
I sat in the corner and watched it happen
As she loaded his pick up truck

She took the furniture in the house
Saying it was really hers
Questions galore were asked
And she gave the most hurtful answers

I watched her break a marriage
That daddy thought was ok
Despite the problems they had
He believed in it anyway

But she lacked the same conviction
And tore apart his hopes
Caring more for herself then her family
Now with difficulty we cope

I felt so angry inside with her
And the man who took what was ours
Now I watch my broken family
Live not day to day, but hour to hour

And that woman who left the house
Took more than the sofa and chairs
She ripped my daddy's heart
With the actions that showed she didn't care

And for the first time in my life
I saw my father break down
She's the only person who could cause
His tears to stain the ground

This poem was great. I hope it wasn't true, I have a friend who's parents got divorced and its very hard on her. If it's true, I hope you're ok now, I have you in my prayers. Beautiful poem though, honest, it was marvelous. 5/5.
