Abused Too Far..

No one knows why she is lonely
Why she lives without a man
But too scared to question her
They just imagine what they can

They fail to see the story
It's hidden in her darkened eyes
But no one dares approach her
They can't see why she cries

See, once she lived a life
A woman with such great charm
She had a successful husband
There seemed no reason for alarm

But once the blinds were shut
The guests had left the house
It was like Jekyll and Hyde
He wasn't the perfect spouse

Sure he could put on a show
Smile without missing a beat
She was quite the actress too
But she knew she was defeat

She had no scars to show
He knew just when to stop
And so there was no running
Nothing left to show the cops

He'd remind her without flinching
It's my word against yours
And so she took the abuse
That happened behind closed doors

She'd tried escaping once
Like a dog he tracked her down
He roughly reminded her
There's no place she can't be found

But one day he'd gotten angry
Way too far out of control
And once he got started
There's no stopping this madly roll

He hit and yelled right and left
Pinned her against the wall
And this time she grinned widely
In her hand she held the ball

She wore those bruises proudly
As she walked into the station
There was no refuting the evidence
Of such a bitter retaliation

And when she left him for good
She held a peace inside
But still she cries the tears
Thinking of how she could have died
