A Poet's True Desire

by *Charisma*   Sep 22, 2006

Cautious as to what I write
And who might read these words
Fear of being judged poorly
Or not fully understood

But what good is it to pen
These words upon a page
If nothing do I feel for them
No hint of love, no burning rage

What impact will they have on me
None, that is the saddest truth
Shouldn't I write what I feel
And not just for all of you?

So maybe you won't undestand
But really, only I ever will
Each meaning in each line I write
Is meant for my own fill

Although I do hope you enjoy
And feel the thrill of each write
Experience the inner joy,
The trueness, and pure delight

I should expound upon my heart
And write what's in my soul
And only then can I be set free
And my inner self console

I think this is how a lot of us feel. But it's so true that you can only pretend for so long that you don't feel a certain way. If you are a true poet you'll HAVE to express how you feel through poetry. Great write!
