Just For Your Approval

by *Charisma*   Oct 1, 2006

I'd do anything for your approval
It's always meant so much
But lately I can't seem to get it
I've lost my magic touch

Remember when I drew a picture
And up on the fridge it hung
Like a Monet or a DaVinci
To be admired by everyone

Remember when I read out loud
How proud you were of me
But those big words aren't so big
In fact now, there rather easy

Remember when I rode my bike
And I got up again and again
The joy you felt inside yourself
And how you wore that silly grin

Remember when I got straight A's
Your expectations always met
I'd reach for the stars, and back then
That's just what I'd get

I've grown up and out of options
What's there left to achieve?
I've been giving all I've got
And there's not much left of me

I want back your approval
The way you used to smile
I wish I could see that now
It's been missing for a while

Just a glimmer in your eyes
A hint of satisfaction
I'm begging on my knees
For even the smallest fraction

I love you so much you see
I still want to be your little girl
I hope that I can mangage this
And still brighten up your world
