Empty Memories

by *Charisma*   Oct 11, 2006

You never know what you have to lose
Until one day it's gone
And you realize those very things
Are what kept you going on

The people who were passerbys
Instantly mean much more
You hear their words echo inside
When you once ignored

The songs you thought were pointless
Have a deeper appeal
When circumstances change for you
And they say how you feel

You never saw how the sun shined
Or how it's rays could warm
Until along came the night
And into darkness transformed

You missed good times with a friend
A call you never returned
And now instead of sweet memories
You've got lessons to be learned

You need to cherish and treasure
What's right in front of your face
It does no good to get caught in the rush
Letting your time slip away

For it will take you on quite a ride
But when the ride is all through
You will have nothing left to show
Except empty pieces of you

Awesome poem! The best one I have read yet. The only problem I see is the second to last stanza does not rhyme like the others. I wanted to thank you for your comment. You comment made me smile. :D thanks! 5/5
