When I'm In White

One of these days I'm going to find someone
Who'll make me as happy as dad has made you
I'm going to give him my heart and my soul
Confide in him, trust in him, like you both do

I'm going to listen to your advice about guys
So he'll be my confidant, my very best friend
I'll never have to worry or fret about us
I'll know him inside out and outside in

In the near future, I'm going to be in white
Walking down the isle to meet my one love
Dad will wrap my arm tight in his as I do
And cry the tears I'll be thinking of

And I know before I go, we'll be in that room
You'll place the pearls daddy gave you onto me
You're going to give some last words of advice
We'll both be crying but truly happy

You'll realize that on my wedding day
I won't be coming home anymore at night
But it won't hit you until it's past my curfew
That's when both your tears will take flight

You'll pull out all my old photographs
And think of me when I was a little girl
Reminiscing about how I've grown up
Sad that I'm now apart of someone else's world

But don't worry too much about all that
I'll still be there anytime you need me
I'll come just to hang out at the house with you
Call you up, do barbeques, and watch movies

The only difference will be my new friend
Who's never going to leave my side
And you'll be the reason I found my love
The reason I was once dressed in white

I'll always love you. That will never change.
And I'll never doubt the love you hold for me
It's just one day I'm going to spread my wings
And find someone who will make my life complete.
