Broken Dreams

by *Charisma*   Dec 5, 2006

She cooks and she cleans without a care
Happy in her house chores as a wife
Dinner's always read on time for him
And in her mind, it's the perfect life

But he's not pulling late hours at work
And there's no last-minute-meeting in Seattle
And though she's a fighter, she doesn't even know
That in this war, she's losing the battle

Folding laundry when he finally gets home
And this lovely lady greets him with a kiss
He kisses her back like everything's fine
And that all day it's her that he missed

She's not pretending because she doesn't know
And if she did she wouldn't just forget
But she is living a life of broken dreams
That she doesn't even know are broken yet.

That was worded so beautifully! It was so sad yet you never just came out and said what he was doing but it was so well implied no one could tell the difference. And the way you twisted your words....ah! It was just great...keep it up Charisma!

I really like this poem especially the fact that the wife dosnt even no that he's cheating on her. its like your waiting for her to find out and feel upset but its not quite sad yet because she dosnt no yet

Charisma, I don't know what to say. This makes me want to cry, it's so sad. This is excellent. Truly, truly excellent.

    What an ending!
I normally hate poems on this subject cos on the most part, i will shed a tear because of the matters at hand and although i didn't break tradition after reading this, it was so well written that i don't care.
Your flow is always impeccable and the imagery is always clear.
