Can't Break the Silence

Sitting on the edge of the bed,
Head held in shaking hands
Drowning in my tears again
Letting them stay where they land

First fight in such a long time
But worse than the others we've had
Didn't think you'd say those things
Or make me keep falling back

And I wanted to say I'm sorry
Tell you to forget all that I'd said
But those words are still inside of me
As I nearly fall off this bed

Shattered hearts lay on this floor
And words unsaid keep drifting by
Pieces of you and me break apart
It won't be long until we die

You've left to cool off and drive around
So this house is empty and still as can be
Even my crying doesn't echo anymore
And I can't break the silence. It's breaking me.

But I'll clean up this mess again,
As you pull back into the drive
I think it's time we settle this
