I Can No Longer Stay

by ShootingStar179   Mar 28, 2007

Why torture so when pain is evident?
See the tears rolling down these ivory cheeks,
Torment my dear, makes me feel so insignificant,
Days away from you will turn into weeks.

Does it feel wonderfully corrupt to kill?
Happiness or blood-pumping heart,
Please do not delay,
Fire at will.

There is nothing more you can do or say,
Simple enough as it is to cry,
Quite effortless to throw me away,
Sweet friend, I can no longer stay.

Good work, although your rhyming is always different, I think it can also be described as unique. I really liked this piece, reminds me of a good friend's old work :)

    This poem says so much.

There is nothing more you can do or say,
Simple enough as it is to cry,
Quite effortless to throw me away,
Sweet friend, I can no longer stay.

    This really touched me.

Interesting poem. The structure sways adding to the unsettling feeling...though slightly countered by the decision made at the end. Over all a nice poem. Inspired by truth? Hope you're not down and out
