Trail of My Heart

As I walked away from you
I left a little trail
Of pieces of my heart
Now so small and frail.

Like Hansel and Gretel
Childish, I don't care.
Because as I leave you
I'll leave them stranded there.

Just in case you want to
Find a way back to me
You can have the pieces
That make my life complete.

It's a sign I still have hope
That I haven't given up.
It may be for nothing.
Guess that'll be enough.

At least I will have tried
And even if I fail
I can find the pieces
And you along the trail.

* I read this poem/quote by XbloodyXfreakX which inspired this piece. I actually only read his first line, and then ran off to write this. Funny how much we thought alike when I went back and read the rest!
