Imagine

by Mortal Utopia   Jun 1, 2016

Sometimes I close my eyes
And imagine you beside me.
You, with your eyes,
Within which we all saw
A future.

And with it, your dreams,
As well as the many
Wrinkles and wisdom that grow
On them, day by day -
Not to wither,
Except with age.

If anyone told me otherwise,
I would shake my head
With my two eyes closed,

Only to open them
And realise you've gone away.

Lovely theme used well throughout this poem. Eyes see and remember what has been, but also see all the possible futures including the lost ones.

    A good write.

    Take care,

Cedricluk, this is truly beautifully written but so so sad. The deeper meaning here (I feel) is live/love whilst you can because we are all heading to the same place and none of us are safe from that fact. We need to live whilst we are alive and tell those we love that we love them before its too late.

    Wonderful, Em

This is sadly beautiful, flowing smoothly with very elegant, careful wording.
One suggestion I have here related to the opening,
~ sometimes I close my eyes.

A simple touch can change the mode you set for the poem, nonetheless very adorable read.
