Sweet Child of Mine (Milly's mothers day thread)

by Kitty Cat Lady   Feb 23, 2018

My eyes are propped with matchsticks
I haven't slept for weeks
My clothes all stink of baby barf
And my hair's matted in peaks

This tiny human rules my life
His wish is my command
How can someone that can't yet speak
Come with so many demands?

I can't remember a single thing
I've so got 'baby brain'
I provide the food at one end
Change a nappy and do it all again

Yet as he suckles at my breast
There's a feeling like no other
Suddenly life is perfect and good
I have a child and I'm a mother.

A tender write, no matter the sleepless hours and the non stop
routine of meeting a baby's demand at the end of the day, its just that
moment ...it makes it all complete...lovely!

Indeed Meena. I remember feeling like I'd never survive the exhaustion, but it was all worth it. Thanks for your lovely comments :-) x

    Miss Kitty

just beautiful, and a lovely reflection of when your growing boy, was just a tiddler
with your flow of rhyming as good as ever

    Much love

This brings back so many memories. Apart from the suckling at the breast bit...

    Take care, Kitty

This is adorable and it reminds me of my grandson who is 2 months old. My daughter is so tired but there is nothing more rewarding then a baby smiling at you. All the best
