Social Toxic

by Catchy   Sep 12, 2018

There’s nothing fair in politics
as well as in love and war
It’s banging your head to walls of bricks
while enjoying a chocolate bar

We’re taught as a child in society
on land, water and air pollution
but one powerful toxicity
that poisons a human is corruption

It easily blemishes a clean soul
who’s been lacking of needs
cause it’s the time when it’s easy
to change a good man’s deeds

Look out for fake justices
that’s disguised over pretty lies
Since loyalty's just a test
to open deceitful ties

As we’re told about what we want to hear
but not what we need to know,
we’re just held for a cheer
but not to help us grow

It is not a true friend they seek
but just some mere praises
Are we to fall for some cheap trick
and mimic their conventional ways?

So keep your senses ready
Don’t ever let it fool you
In the end we shall not be sorry
when it’s time to pay what’s due

An excellent piece. Nicely rhymed and as Brenda said a cutting take on Modern Society. Its a sad state of affairs that such corruption exists and continues to grow. Best wishes Milly x

Agreed with Brenda - a cutting take on modern society with some harsh lessons throughout.

Take care and all the best
