The Downfall of Our Love

by Bridgette   Dec 10, 2006

I have waited for too long in hopes of you returning
But my blind knowledge has yet to phase my reality
So I soothe my fears with empty, unkept promises
To temporarily ease the pain of my fatality

My shallow, adolescent fears have become my life
Alone, afraid, and uncertainty of what lies ahead
This broken road leads nowhere but to more agony
And each faltered step is only accompanied by dread

I watch as all our memories are swept into the darkness
Carrying all of my hopes for redemption along
And as my world falls apart right before my eyes,
I do not cry. All my energy is put into staying strong

I have written about the forgotten too long
And it's all I can do to not break down and cry
It's becoming apparent that you don't care
But all I ever wanted was for you to try

Amazing! Once again, a very well-written poem! I loved the emotions in this. Sad, but great. I found nothing wrong with the poem, in fact I loved every part of it. Great job!
Hope to read more of your work =)

A real pleasure to read, and i absolutely loved the imagery and vocabulary in this.
I don't know who voted it less than a 5, I think it is a well deserved 5.

Good poem, but i feel as if the reader needs a little more background information on what the speaker is feeling. Other than that, nice word use and nice flow.
