Childrens Eyes

by Crystal Rose Blooming   Oct 26, 2008

A little girl in the park looked around in awe
Taking in the beauty of everything she saw
Look she said to me, the leaf there on the ground
That is the prettiest leaf that anyone has found.

It was nothing-special green with edges brown
But she gently picked it up carried it like a crown
She noticed the green of the grass and sweet smelling flowers
Slowly walked along the path as if she was empowered

Touched her hand to a tree, and the cool damp ground
Turned around and smiled at me with a look profound
A butterfly landed on her hand, she giggled as it crawled
Looking at its colors she was completely enthralled

I envied her the magic she found in simple thing
All the joy nature brought made her heart take wings
Adults seem to have gone blind to nature's glorious show
Children enjoy everything in which God has bestowed

You have such a varied understanding of language, & paint such lovely pictures w/ words you honestly should filter your gift into a novel !

    Oh my!

I have a picture of a deep red maple leaf. It had fallen one wet morning and my son happened upon it. It was on a path of dark, wet tarmac. The contrast effected us both..without looking back at my phot I can clearly see it in my mind...maybe I should write about it as you have done so here.

    Very well done.

    I love this..

..I remember pushing my son around in his pushchair. I would deliberately slow down so he could touch, feel, smell, see up close and taste..well as long as it was safe to do so!!

This is a wonderfully written piece, reminding us all about how beautiful this world is and how we take it all for granted. Why, just because it isn't new to us, doesn't mean that it has lost its beauty, right?

Perhaps we should all try to slow down and try and observe the world through child-like eyes again. Maybe, just maybe we would want to preserve it for furture children to appreciate?

There is always hope when a pen such as yours can stimulate such hope and desire to change.

    Well done on this.
