No Escaping...

by Dreamofolwin   Apr 21, 2010

This is a poem I wrote about a volcano in Iceland, after seeing pictures of the ash clouds it caused which stopped all air travel to and from Britian.

This ash is so foreboding,
It's like it is in a rage...
Seeking, wanting, prisoners,
to trap them in a cage.

Nullifying its captives,
how will they escape?
Not knowing what a day will bring
or what will be their fate.

It's presence looms before them,
daring, challenging men...
Mere mortals have become,
unable to defend.

I watched a news story on this, its really sad how badly it is effecting everyone in that area. It is destroying so much. Interesting how you decided to write a poem about this, I really thought you did a great job of informing us of something going on in the world in an interesting way.

You did a good job describing the volcano and making it seems as if it keeps people at bay and keeps them in constant wondering. Good description and keep writing.

You captured the essence of that volcanic eruption and the cloud of ash. I cannot imagine how it would be to be trapped in all that mess. Well done.
