Vacuity

Emptiness, psyche annihilated.
Screams fester, no escape.
Silence saturated with malingering grief,
waiting to erupt, spew its malignity,
unleash agony, torment residing deep within.
Will it ever cease?

Memories clawing through nightmares,
barely discernible, disappearing,
sucked into quicksand,
mired in debris from the past.
Dreams filled with hope,
dashed against the scabrous shore
of despair, swallowed by the tides.
A void created where the future
ought reside.
