The Lost Path.

by Steven Beesley   Sep 16, 2010

Self appointed importance can
never be accepted by others,
do not deceive your self of your
own greatness for such measurement
is made by others.

Indeed such self indulgence
would surely show only
signs of weakness, incompetence
and impotence.

Squander your thoughts
away as you will
and you will have no
one to blame but your
very self.

But if you can cast
your vision up as high
as where eagles soar,
then you shall surely
see clearly once more.

Remove your walls and
build new bridges, mend
the ravaged roads you take
and surely the journey has
just begun.

Ponder to think of
those you once knew
and you might just find
the path you lost long ago.

I like this poem for its wise statements, but I was not really impressed with the wording, it was too plain for me, somehow..but it was not bad, you are a great writer..I still remember you coming up with all kind of formats in RTVW:)

    Good job,

    5/5 Ingrid

This first stanza reminds me of a poem I wrote seems so long ago.

    "Self appointed importance can
    never be accepted by others,
do not deceive your self of your
    own greatness for such measurement
    is made by others."

You not only wrote a good piece of work but educated some of the self appointed. Good job , I hope to read a lot more of your work

A thought provoking piece. I read over the poem several times and just about every time I got new meanings from the words you use. The simplicity of your writing and yet the depth is very good. I couldn't single out one line I liked the best since they all seemed to flow nicely. Good job and keep writing.
