My Street.....

by Dreamofolwin   Jan 9, 2011

Running up and down the street,
my face dirty, two odd feet.
Not a care in the world had I...
as free as a bird up in the sky.

Skipping to the corner shop,
in a world of my own I didn't stop.
Errands for my mum I'd do...
and sometimes buy a penny chew!

Down alleyways playing hide & seek,
hoping no one would see me peek.
Quickly then I'd run to "den"...
shouting " I am free!" just then.

Playing footie in the street,
kerbsy too, I can't be beat...
Mum then calls me in for tea,
I sit a while and watch TV.

My gran she lived in the next street,
going to her house was just a treat.
Tea and biccies she'd prepare...
How I loved to just go there.

Sometimes she would give us Willicks!
a seashell food, that where a delicacy.
How I ate them I don't know....
and pickled cockles too, Oh no!

Soda farls she also gave,
mmm, they where just my fav!
Off we'd go then tummys full,
childhood days where just so cool.

Nice memories contained in your words plus things from your childhood that you loved to eat and games you liked to play.
