Gold Perisheth They Say....

by Dreamofolwin   Jan 20, 2011

Gold perisheth they say,
but not your love devine;
it shone into my heart...
now I know, you as mine.

My footsteps they had faltered,
along lifes' winding road...
My burden heavy bearing,
you came and took my load.

You closed your arms around me,
gave me comfort and sweet rest.
Knowing you, is life eternal...
and I know that I am blest.

No longer I'm sitting in darkness,
but your light now shines on me.
I, who chose my own way....
chief of sinners I be.

But one look in that moment,
gave my eyes grace to see...
The one who loved me as himself;
who gave himself for me.

How can I thank the giver?
for his love worth more than gold.
By simply telling all around...
of the joys that are untold.

Of one who gives more than we ask for,
who has ransomed and rescued me...
for on the cross he suffered,
that I, the guilty go free.

Yes gold, they say it perisheth;
but not your love devine.
It has shone into my heart,
now I know, you as mine.
