On Murky Pond.

by Steven Beesley   Jun 12, 2012

Like a dream within a dream
weaved from the dark night,
the stars lay on a black
velvet sky.

The trees motionless casting
their dark shadows against
the slow moving devilish mist.

The forest with deep colored
hues of purple, blue and green
completely uninviting to any stray
traveler.

The lonely hoot of an owl
contrasted against a cold
moonlit night.

The ugly toads croaking
their horrid tunes adding
to the tepid atmosphere of
the listless pond.

This night was made for
ghouls and goblins to
come out and play.

Do not wander off the
beaten track as there
will be no way back!

Beautiful imagery! It kind of reminds me of Snow White when she entered the dark forest! While reading this I felt like I was there, very spooky and I love it! :) 5/5
