Life's Legato.

by Steven Beesley   Jun 18, 2012

Should auld acquaintance be forgot?
Can we simply skip over parts of our
lives so simply and let memories be
forgot?

With the ravages and passages of time
we have learnt to accommodate both
the rough with the smooth.

Indeed the roughness of texture can
only be polished and made fine by
the action of sanding down by
sand paper.

Meditate and accept that which is
bad together with the that which
is good; for there must be yin
with yang.

Without such contrast, we cannot
learn to move on and embrace all
differences that we must cross in
such a short lifetime.

Be benevolent and humble, count
thy blessings and offer your
love and assistance to those
less fortunate whenever you can.

Our lives are all on a same legato
passage appearing on the same page
and the notes be played in unison in
order that the music have it's unity.

Each shall have cogency and effect
to all that is around us, like the
ripples thus caused by a drop of
water.

Carry not the weight around
on your shoulders but share with
your companions and the weight
shall be gone.

Learn to forgive, before it's
too late and you are forever
deprived of the chance to do
so.

A poem that holds many truths about life one can learn from and live. The use of certain words in this poem gives it a flavor of an olden time imagery. All in all I liked this read :)
