If Life is a Magic Wand

by Meena Krish   Feb 18, 2014

If life is a magic wand,
how nice it will be
to erase all wrongs
and rewrite a new fate...

but,
what will become of life, if there are no
lessons to learn and mistakes to make?

If life is a magic wand,
oh, how lovely it will be
to paint dreams and songs
of our love on a clean slate...

but wait,
what will be life, if dreams come
easy with nothing left to chase?

If life is a magic wand,
how beautiful it will be
to rebuild a lasting bond
with our true soul mate...

but then,
we will never appreciate or understand.
what life's like to live;

So if life is a magic wand,
I'll instantly know
what to do
but won't,

because...

I don't want to miss out
on those feelings
I now carry for you

    But,
what will become of life, if there are no
lessons to learn and mistakes to make?

    - I think this line itself sums up the point of your poem.

I often find myself asking the same question that many of us contemplate:

If you could change the past, would you?
Some of us think we would, but then to change the past would be changing ourselves, and all that we have ever learned, felt, experienced. It could mean never meeting the people that we have met, and although we can often encounter people who have hurt us, they often teach us a lot, mainly about love.

I really liked your poem. It is so deep because I don't believe any of us would really know what we would do unless we were given the opportunity. And I always seem to think that those who would go back and change it, would often come to regret it. Or perhaps, even with the change, we would encounter the same events, same emotion, and same regrets. Because perhaps your path was the path you were meant to be on no matter what.

So much to take from this write.

    Well done

Beautiful! So true! Indeed life is beautiful and worthwhile if we go through the shortcomings of it and understand the true happiness one can receive when they have lived through sorrow!
I loved this thought of yours. I've written a poem on this thought in my poetry book. But, really, you nailed it with this piece!

I actually think of life as a magic wand... I mean magic isn't really magic, it's just a term given to explain things that are hard to explain.

But I like what you wrote, it's important to go through what we go in order to become better as a person.
