While You Slumber

by CJ Maleney   Apr 17, 2017

While you sleep you miss the sunrise.

It was spectacular.!

Hazy orange ball rising above the pennines to the east. So bright I could not look at it directly.

Splintering the listless clouds, waking the flowers. To watch them slowly open stretching their petals as I do my limbs.

To be awake at such times is often a curse.
Today it was a gift.

Oh the things you miss while you slumber

The honesty in this piece is heart-warming. You were looking at the dawn of the day and wrote this while sitting...pen in hand...the picture of that moment in a poet's life.

Thank you for your comments guys.

Was just a simple thing I wrote while sitting on my window ledge watching the day break
