Sending my Prayers

Our hearts yearn for you
My soul is crying out
Our thoughts are jumbled
My prayers are silent

The clouds have rolled back in
And the storm has arrived
The electricity in the air buzzing
The boom of thunder deafening

Lives are once again lost
In a senseless act of violence
Someone’s mother, father and sibling
Aunts, Uncles and cousins
We have all loved and lost
We have all seen the devastation
We have all heard the bad news
This world is no longer race vs race
Country vs country
Religion vs religion
This is now a world filled with such hate
It has turned into gun vs gun

When will the killings end?
When will the violence be halted?
Why do we accept this as everyday life?
How much more war can one accept?
There is now so much violence
One shooting a day minimum
We don’t hear about all those victims
Left in the streets to die alone
We don’t hear about all the other victims
The families whom have now lost

Time

Time with those they cherish
Time to say how much they love you
Time to watch a child grow into an adult
Time to watch their parents live long lives

All I can say with a heavy heart and soul
59 lives, lost but not forgotten
