Fin

by cassie hughes   Nov 9, 2017

I sit within this cold and crowded place
and wonder how it came to be
that once my heart was filled with joy
where now resides pure misery.

I know that somewhere in the world outside
are those who suffer worse than I
yet all that does is make me see
my life is naught but one big lie.

I hide the truth with skill honed over time
from even those who hold me dear
yet it gets harder with each day
and soon my act will fail I fear

For shame I dare not stay and let them see
my heart implode to drop me in
the black hole of despair that waits
my soul to take. So goodbye. Fin.

There's an underlying sadness within these lines yet when the reader reads it, feels the writer is composed and not languishing herself with words...a touching write.

Thank you for the comment on mine...take care
