Drive

by CJ Maleney   May 1, 2018

Have you ever been so tired
That your face starts to react
Your skin feels so dry and hot
Your eyeballs sinking back

Though you are not body broken
But your muscles feel so weak
You speak aloud unto yourself
For god sake let me sleep

An over active mind
Can create beauty from simplicity
But once it flags and starts to fail
They cause catastrophe

Climb behind that wheel
Pour a Starbucks down your neck
When the caffeine buzz wears off
View the trail that you have left

You are not a slug or worm
But a person with a heaving chest
When it all goes wrong and people die

Can you forgive yourself!

Craig, it is so true how drivers are pushed to crazy hours, not enough sleep and are behind the wheel of a big rig. Distracted drivers are bad enough. Well done with this.

      Thanks Bren.

Not all companies are like this but unfortunately so so many are.

Regardless of what regulations are put in place, employers will always find a way round them.

Oh, I see, Craig. No, I agree with you entirely. I was looking at the people who have a choice, but when companies or just pure necessity are having you driving those kinds of hours, the problem is still there, it just can't be helped as easily, I suppose.

It's become of particular concern to myself of late, so much so that I will be terminating my employment with my current company.

A problem that needs pointing out, Craig, and you do so really well here. It's not just drivers on their phones that kill - it's being irresponsible behind the wheel full stop.

    All the best as ever,

    Ben

I get that but I approached this from a wagon drivers perspective. Drivers are constantly pushed and do ridiculous hours (up to 15 a day) . Fatigue is a very real problem

      Regards

      Craig
