To conquer that fear

by Dagmar Wilson   Aug 21, 2018

Faded wallpaper
the floors are squeaking
a musty smell all over the house,
my emotions are not stable.
Abuse will trigger it.

Years of hard labor
dealing with experts
I thought I was cured,
the healing process has never started.
It's been on bedrest this whole time.

I am looking at my child with handprints around her neck
I will help her to undress that fear.

The poem hits hard with the sudden appearance of abuse in the next generation coming as a shock. I felt emotional assault just reading it. Whatever it takes, I pray you have strength and resolve to carry it out.
