In Floods Of Tears (acrostic)

by CJ Maleney   Aug 27, 2018

I have been there
Not easy to forget, how quickly reminded

Floating down those streets in a canoe
Lifting the destitute from the waters
Open windows with people calling out
Often wondering how bad my own place is
Driving on and paddling for hours and hours
Striving, despite my muscles screaming

One thought pushes others aside
Friends and family!

Time elapses
Eventually waters recede
All I knew to be normal and familiar
Rivers merged to create devastation
Swamped, polluted and irrecoverable

Last week Miss Meena poem and this week yours. You did full justice with the title. Honestly, Cj, I wanted to nominate this poem but Ben(the brightest) beat me.

      Cheers Ben.

I've been in my own little bubble for a week and not been following media or world events.

When caught up with the real world you kinda crash down with a bump.
