Here Again

by Kitty Cat Lady   Jul 28, 2019

Can you feel me yearning
Do you know how hard it is
Not to make that contact
That I know will stem my tears

Even though you've caused my pain
It's your comfort I seek
How can I face this all alone
When we've vowed not to speak

I broke my heart all by myself
When I opened it to you
I should have kept it closed and safe
Now it's exposed and bruised

No doubt you're buried in the sand
Denying the hurt and shame
Writing your ending of us
With me as the villain of blame

The highs they were so very high
The lows were harsh and sharp
I can't believe I'm here again
And neither can my heart

*It's been a while and I'm a bit rusty but need to purge a bit :-(

Kitty - really great to see you back.. I have missed your poetry. This is not at all rusty by the way. It captures perfectly the heartbreak, emotion and conflict felt when someone is dealing with the end of a relationship. Anyone who has ever experienced a break up or in particular a seesaw relationship will be able to relate to this piece.

One of the things I have learnt with age is that heart ache is transient - whilst the pain can feel like the world is falling down at the time of a breakup - years later when you look back on your life - you barely remember anything about the people you once knew or loved in your life - they appear as shadows that sometimes pop up to tickle your memory but the emotions connected to them have long gone.
Much love and hugs Milly x
