The Final Sunset

by Kitty Cat Lady   Oct 9, 2019

When did life become so slow
Despite these years I've naught to show
Just brittle bones and hours that pass
No longer me within the glass

A different face looks back at me
Despite the vivid memories
The lines tell stories of my depth
Emotions felt and secrets kept

Riddled with remorse I know
I will not see another show
Of splendor when the sun does rise
That won't reflect in my closed eyes

It's time to kiss my world goodbye
I'll feel no more pain once I die
I'll live now through my scattered kin
And hope good memories dwell within

Beautiful, descriptive, & thoughtful. Remorseful but not regretful. Well done x

A descriptive piece, reflecting on how you feel, that is certainly a real situation, but glad to see not present :)

Kitty, you have produced and raised a fine young man. Without trying to patronise you or belittle your issues, if you never do another thing again that you deem 'worthwhile', that will be enough. Who knows? The next thing is you're a grandparent...

Thanks Ben ... this wasn't reflecting my 'now' ... more a pondering on how I might feel when I'm at the end of my life - hopefully not like this. Thanks for your lovely comments though and my fine young man had better NOT make me a grandmother any time soon! Lol :-) x
