Hello, my name is Daniel,
and I'm infatuated with puzzles,
or as my therapist calls them,
what can I say?
there's something thrilling about
finding that perfect piece,
while sifting through sickle like shards
completely naked and naive,
who knew piecing a heart
back together was so
catastrophic...so romantic
the love made me do it

Hello, my name is Daniel
and I'm terrible at puzzles,
like clockwork realization hit
only after I dug
in my chest pillaging my own heart
to make hers full,
forcing pieces back to a heart
that wishes to remain broken
is pointless

Hello, my name is Daniel
and I should know when to move on,
I was so close this time
to repairing in her
what I couldn't in myself
...I think
but to be honest, facing her demons
let me forget about my own

Hello, my name is Daniel
and I'm...broken

I love this. Love the confessional style of the poem, makes it feel like an AA meeting but for a broken heart. Makes it feel more raw and real.

I also like how each section becomes smaller in the amount of lines and how it reflects the breakdown of the person narrating and how their effort over time has drained them.

    Beautiful write. Favorited.
