napowrimo: dreaming (day 18)

by prasanna   Apr 19, 2020

i dreamt of you again;
this time in parts,
your voice was a harp
trapped in amber,
you were sleeping on top
of storm clouds that
leaked all y/our
memories.

torrential downpour,
i came to learn more of you;
the history of you,
the parts of you that
you keep under lock-and-key,
embarrassing memories of
your childhood, the stuff you
thought makes you mundane
but i think paints you in the
prettiest light.

the lights flash.
mourning light pours through
the window indiscriminately,
flooding my bedroom.

with a head still anchored
to the pillow, weighed down
by your memories;

i do not dare wake.

    Hello hiraeth,

    To slumber in such a dream, bliss, who would dare awaken, indeed. An unusual love poem, in that. there is no romance, no frills, as it were, just unadulterated affection, the magnetism of the mundane and the power of the music of love locked in amber. Excellent, truly.

    Kind regards, Tony.

    I'm always so eager to reach your closing lines. I believe I might start by reading your poems from there later on.. like I spoil my favorite books on my self. This is just mesmerizing. I also relate.
