napowrimo: an ending (day 30)

by prasanna   Apr 30, 2020

the impossibly soft hours of dawn
patinas into weightlessness,
melting all the wrong ideas
into a measured escape.
i wonder if we’ll fit among stars
or be consumed by the sun itself.

we chase after infinity
only to realize we will never be enough.

incanting each other’s name to keep warm,
we aimlessly pluck the poems from the sky,
forgetting one after another,
all the while wondering; where’s home
to a pigeon without wings?

misery; the quiet resource
that dares us to bleed poetry
from the trauma we never speak of,
undressing ourselves in absence
of vivid dreams,
wondering if death takes us whole
or only the beautiful parts of us
unsullied by memories
of what was done to us.

we draw breath softly
yearning to be gentle
enough to address the truth
without sharing a path
of mourning something not ours.

we pick flowers & write letters
of each other, sinking into the warmth
of an infinity that only we can provide.

OMG <3 yes and NOO! I wish we can demand extension for April in light of the current lock down :( This is absolutely the best way to end with! <3

^ ah my heart! And the below counts as my favorite too:
