The Garden Ghost

by cassie hughes   Oct 27, 2020

On restless feet she wanders
through the garden of her life
tall trees of indiscretions past
deline bruised path of strife

Her form oft lingers briefly
near the primulas of grace
before she pirouettes away
in lovers ghost embrace

Chrysanthemums scowl fiercely
at fidelity abstained
and faithful Gladioli bend
their heads in sorrows shame

The passing of her palid form
brings aconite to bloom
then Angels Trumpet wildly calls
of danger, risk and doom.

The lily’s heady perfume speaks
of beauty just skin deep
whilst thoughtless Mandevilla
vines send tendrils meant to trip

Over thyme her flaws revealed
but lesson never learned
So to traverse this acre green
Everlasting must return.

May i ask, what did you mean by that last stanza? “Who is Everlasting?” Throughout the point there’s references of flowers and their names capitalize. I thought it was interesting that the last stanza “Everlasting is capitalize” but I’m don’t think that’s a flower.

^^ Uhmm, I don’t mean to sound pretentious, really, I do not mean that at all. But, awww... should I return?
