Now, THIS is my new favorite from you! I am happy to see Scott nominated it, as I was about to do so.
I don't often write love poems, and don't read them enough, but it always takes my breath away when there is something so unique that I just want to cherish this poem... and cherish reading each verse.
"mulberry pink" - I was pleasantly surprised! Colors can have such an impact in poetry, and choosing the exact color and shade that fits the poem and gives it depth. I liked that you didn't just say "pink". There's also an intimate gentleness in the next few lines, like the moon is adorning their hair.
The next stanza was so heart-warming. The magic of experiencing your first snow, and seeing the blush more in their cheeks. Again, with color here, and the meaning of red, which we usually see as fiery and passionate and bold, being portrayed as something softer. It's quite beautiful! I definitely saw this as a first love, or letting yourself be vulnerable with this person, and there is no shame, only innocence and wonder in seeing each other in this way.
"and I cannot look away" - the perfect ending that just made me sigh!
